Sikkim CM backs nationwide digital yoga campaign ahead of Yoga Day 2026

Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang has promoted the nationwide digital yoga initiative jointly led by the Morarjee Desai National Institute of Yoga (MDNIY) under the Ministry of Ayush and wellness platform Habuild, urging citizens to make yoga a part of their daily routine ahead of International Yoga Day 2026. The initiative, launched on March 13 as a 100-day digital yoga movement, aims to encourage people across India to adopt yoga as a consistent lifestyle habit under the Ministry of Ayush’s “Yoga 365” campaign. Organisers said the programme has already attracted around three lakh participants from over 130 countries as well as all States and Union Territories of India.

The sessions are being conducted digitally to ensure accessibility for people of all age groups, professions and regions. The guided yoga sessions are led by Saurabh Bothra, Co-Founder and Yoga Instructor at Habuild, whose approach focuses on mindful movement and sustainable habit formation. Commenting on the initiative, Bothra said yoga becomes transformative when practised daily and not just occasionally. He added that recognition from leaders, including the Sikkim Chief Minister, strengthens the mission of making yoga accessible to every household.

In Gangtok, wellness-related activities, yoga accessories and health-focused community programmes have witnessed growing interest in recent months as awareness around preventive healthcare and holistic wellbeing continues to rise ahead of International Yoga Day celebrations across Sikkim.
