Sikkim appoints advisors to enhance Natural Resource Management

The Government of Sikkim has undertaken a significant administrative reshuffle, appointing several key individuals to prominent advisory and official positions. These appointments, which come into immediate effect under the Sikkim State Public Services Act, 2006, and the Sikkim State Legislators’ Appointment to Different Authorities Act, 2006, aim to strengthen governance across various sectors.

Among the notable appointees is Kunga Nima Lepcha, who has been named as Advisor to the Chief Minister, alongside Sonam G. Kaleon, Bishnu Kumar Sharma, Rohit Gurung, T.N. Dhakal, and former minister Phuchung Bhutia. Jacob Khaling has been appointed Political Secretary to the Chief Minister for Press and Publicity Affairs, while C.P. Sharma takes on the role of Advisor to the Education Department.

Other significant appointments include MLA Tenzing Norbu Lamtha as Advisor to the Forest and Environment Department, a crucial role in managing the state’s natural resources. Dr. Mahendra P. Lama has been named Emeritus Chief Economic Advisor, and Sunil Saraogi has been appointed OSD to the Chief Minister in New Delhi, overseeing key state affairs at the national level.
