Shubman Gill became the seventh Indian player to score five centuries in a year

Shubman Gill’s made century against Australia in second One Day International at the Holkar Stadium in Indore on this Sunday which gave the young man entry into an elite club with Sachin Tendulkar,Virat Kohli, Rahul Dravid, Sourav Ganguly, Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma. After scoring his fifth ODI century in 2023, Gill became the seventh Indian player to hammer a fifth century in a calendar year in ODI cricket. Kohli has achieved the feat of five or more ODI centuries in a calendar year four times. This is actually very important for Indian cricket team as they need talented cricketer like him and it will be very exciting to see them playing as it can give lots of victory to the team.

The first time Kohli hammered five centuries in a year was in 2012 then in 2017, 2018 and 2019. Tendulkar achieved the feat twice in 1996, where he scored six centuries and then in 1998 where he made nine. Dravid made six centuries in 1999 while Ganguly scored seven ODI centuries in 2000. Dhawan achieved the feat in 2013, scoring five ODI centuries. Rohit scored five centuries in the 2019 World Cup which is one of the big record in the competition. Shubman has scored 1,230 runs in 20 ODIs so far with an average of 72.35 and having a strike rate of 105.03. Apart from five centuries, he has made five 50s . His top score is 208 against New Zealand in a 50 over contest . Actually Shubman is very talented as the record of this year shows and it can be easily said that he will be very important for Indian cricket team.
