Shri Rajeev Chandrasekhar honoured 11 candidates from the first batch under SANKALP Programme

Shri Rajeev Chandrasekhar, Hon’ble MoS for E&IT, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, and Jal Shakti have honoured 11 candidates from the first batch of a project under the SANKALP Programme in Medinipur district, West Bengal. The project’s implementation partner, the Logistics Sector Skill Council (LSC), plans to train 960 candidates within a year in warehouse management, supervisory, and associate roles, with placement opportunities.

West Bengal, India’s fourth most populous and second most densely populated region, has the potential to provide trained and quality manpower for the rest of the country. Private vocational training providers are targeting districts with low vocational training densities like West Medinipur for organized employment growth.

The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship is focusing on delivering enhanced outcomes for candidates through industry partnerships post-skill training, aiming for placement rates of close to 70%-75%. These projects extend both within the state and across India, promoting sustainable livelihoods for beneficiaries. Speaking on the occasion, Shri, Rajeev Chandrasekhar, Hon’ble MoS for E&IT, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship and Jal Shakti, said, “It is because of such efforts over the past 10 years that we have been able to skill, reskill, and upskill young Indians to build “Aaj Ka Bharat” and “Naya Bharat.”
