On March 3, 2024, the distribution program under GramodyogVikasYojana will be addressed at Lakshansen outdoor stadium in Jhalijhalia, Malda District, West Bengal. KVIC Chairman Shri Manoj Kumar stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘New Khadi of New India’ and Guarantee of Modi Government’ have redirected the ‘Self-reliant and Developed India Campaign’.
West Bengal, known for its Murshidabad muslin fabric, light weight silk, and heritage Balucharisarees, has received over 300 Khadi Institutions under KhadiVikasYojana, supporting around 50,000 artisans. Over the past decade, Rs.450 crores has been provided in financial and infrastructure support to promote the Khadi Sector in West Bengal.
The GramodyogVikasYojana of KVIC has distributed various machines, toolkits, and certificates, including 200 bee boxes, 80 West wood machines, 80 Turn wood machines, 60 tool kits to plumbers, wooden toys, 4 sets of fruits and vagitable machines, and 3 sets of Sabai grass machines. 60 Leather toolkits distributed to 60 artisans. More than 25,000 unemployed youth (approximately) in West Bengal have been given Skill Development training through KVIC Training Centres and promotional schemes, to generate self-employment opportunities in traditional industries in last 10 years.
