Seven arrested in Assam’s Makum for child trafficking, victim rescued from Arunachal Pradesh

Seven individuals have been arrested in Assam’s Makum after the disappearance of a young girl. The incident came to light when the girl’s mother filed a missing person report with Makum police, sparking an immediate investigation.

Authorities launched a swift search operation, which led to the rescue of the child from Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh. Shockingly, the investigation revealed that the girl’s own father and mother-in-law were involved in the trafficking scheme.

The police have arrested seven suspects connected to the crime, including Hemmer Lomi from Arunachal Pradesh, Nasibul Ahmed from Lakhimpur, and five Makum residents—Sajan Satnami, Mukul Kol, Ajay Ravidas, Vijay Nayak, and Sanam Karwa. During the operation, the police seized a scooty and Rs 50,700 from the accused.
