On Friday, Election Commission has released its final draft delimitation for Assam Lok Sabha and Assembly Constituencies.
Earlier, in the month of June the draft delimitation was published for Assam due to which there have chaotic situation in the state, Assam. The opposition parties were against the delimitation.
Now the final delimitation is published with some changes after hearing to its stakeholder from each district, Assam.
Detailing about the delimitation, the number of constituencies reserved for Scheduled Tribes (STs) is up from 16 to 19 and Scheduled Castes from 8 to 9. Two Lok Sabha seats now stand reserved for STs and one for SCs.
On the other hand, the number of constituencies in the tribal autonomous districts of West Karbi Anglong has gone up from 1 to 2; the Bodoland Territorial Region has increased from 16 to 19.
The total number of constituencies, for Assembly and Lok Sabha, remain unchanged at 126 and 14, respectively, as these cannot be changed till the figures of the first Census taken after 2026 are published.
