Sayaji Hotels has expanded its presence in the Northeast with the launch of Effotel by Sayaji in Gangtok, marking the hospitality group’s entry into Sikkim’s growing tourism market. The new property, located in Tathangchen near the popular Ridge Park, was officially announced on May 15.
Situated at an altitude of around 1,650 metres, Gangtok is known for its views of Mt Kanchenjunga, monasteries, lakes and vibrant tourist activity. The hotel is strategically located close to Ridge Park and MG Marg, giving visitors easy access to key cultural and commercial areas of the city.
Effotel by Sayaji features 32 rooms, including Deluxe King, Deluxe Twin and Suite categories. The property also houses “The Cube”, an all-day dining restaurant offering multi-cuisine options for guests. The hotel has been designed to cater to both leisure and business travellers visiting the Himalayan state.
Rajendra Joshi, Associate General Manager of Sayaji Hotels, said Gangtok is emerging as an important destination for experiential and leisure tourism, adding that the launch strengthens the group’s footprint in high-potential travel markets across India. Property owner SangayTenzingNorbu said the hotel aims to reflect the warmth and spirit of the region while maintaining Sayaji’s hospitality standards.
In Gangtok, the launch is expected to boost the city’s premium hospitality segment as tourist inflow to Sikkim continues to rise. Industry observers believe branded hotel expansions in Gangtok could generate employment, encourage local tourism-linked businesses and strengthen the city’s position as a year-round travel destination in the Eastern Himalayas.
