Samsung Electronics and Google Cloud have announced a multi-year partnership to bring Google Cloud’s generative artificial intelligence (AI) technology to Samsung smartphone users worldwide. Starting with the Samsung Galaxy S24 series, Samsung will be the first Google Cloud partner to deploy Gemini Pro and Imagen 2 on Vertex AI via the cloud.
Samsung has become the first Google Cloud partner to deploy Gemini Pro on Vertex AI, a multimodal system capable of understanding, operating across, and combining various types of information. Samsung’s Gemini Pro on Vertex AI offers users a summarization feature across Notes, Voice Recorder, and Keyboard, enhancing security, safety, privacy, and data compliance with Google Cloud.
Samsung’s Galaxy S24 series users can now access Imagen 2, Google’s most advanced text-to-image diffusion technology, via Vertex AI. This feature, found in Generative Edit2 in S24’s Gallery application, offers safe and intuitive photo-editing capabilities. Janghyun Yoon, Corporate EVP and Head of Software Office of Mobile eXperience Business at Samsung Electronics commented, “After months of rigorous testing and competitive evaluation, the Google Cloud and Samsung teams worked together to deliver the best Gemini-powered AI experience on Galaxy.”
