Samsung announces One UI 8.5 beta with improved productivity and device security

Samsung Electronics has rolled out the One UI 8.5 beta programme with new features focused on content creation, cross-device connectivity and enhanced security across Galaxy devices. The update is designed to simplify tasks and make device usage more intuitive, the company said. New tools such as Photo Assist allow users to edit images continuously and review complete edit history before saving final visuals. Sharing content has also been streamlined through upgrades to Quick Share, which can suggest sending photos directly to contacts identified in images.

In terms of device management, One UI 8.5 introduces Auracast-based Audio Broadcast for LE audio-supported devices, enabling group audio situations such as events. Users can also access files across multiple Samsung devices using Storage Share, including tablets and PCs. The update strengthens device protection with features like Theft Protection and Failed Authentication Lock that automatically secure the phone.

In Kolkata, Galaxy users can access the beta through the Samsung Members app. Tech retailers in the city said rising interest in multi-device usage may encourage users here to explore the beta before the wider rollout in India.
