Samsung India has announced a major expansion of its flagship Samsung Digital & Offline Skills Training (DOST) Sales Programme, aiming to train 9,400 young people from underserved communities for frontline retail roles. The initiative, aligned with India’s inclusive economic growth objectives, combines classroom learning with on-the-job training to prepare participants for careers in organised retail.
Since its inception in 2021, the DOST Sales Programme has strengthened India’s retail talent pipeline. The current DOST Sales 4.0 initiative, in partnership with the Electronics Sector Skills Council of India (ESSCI) and the Telecom Sector Skills Council (TSSC), provides trainees with 120 hours of online instruction and 60 hours of hands-on training by Samsung’s retail team. The curriculum covers customer interaction, sales fundamentals, product knowledge, store operations, and service excellence. Participants also receive monthly remuneration during the five-month on-the-job training at Samsung stores and are eligible for NSQF-recognized certification, enhancing long-term career prospects.
In Kolkata, the programme is expected to bolster the city’s retail sector, where consumer electronics demand has surged amid growing digital adoption. Local Samsung stores will host several trainees, providing businesses with a skilled workforce capable of enhancing customer experience and driving sales. Shubham Mukherjee, Head, CSR & Corporate Communications, Samsung Southwest Asia, emphasized that the initiative empowers youth to thrive in India’s evolving retail landscape while supporting inclusive growth nationwide.
