In an effort to stand by the community during trying times, Royal Enfield and its community of riding clubs have extended support to the North-Eastern States’ fight against the recent unfortunate floods. With the added situation of the COVID pandemic, relief this year has been difficult. Royal Enfield dealerships in the region along with its community of riders have come forward to provide food and rehabilitation aid to the affected people across Assam.
Royal Enfield as a brand has always had the community at its heart, and in these challenging times, Royal Enfield dealerships and riders from the community-led groups are offering a helping hand to those who’ve been affected. Every year, Assam is ravaged by floods causing damage to life and property and this year also efforts were dedicated to providing a slew of immediate relief initiatives.
One of the most prominent faces from the riding community who has been working tirelessly is Nirmali Nath. An avid Royal Enfield rider, traveler and social worker, Nirmali with her team helped around 900 families who were severely affected by the floods. She reached out to families who were displaced in locations like Bhogerpar, Barpeta, Keotpara, Hajo, Lahorighat, Nagaon, Mai than, Tezpur and Nellie.
Along with her team, she distributed essential items and also provided monetary help to affected people.
The Assam Rhinos Motorcycle Club have also come forward to champion the relief effort. Founded in 2005 the Assam Rhinos Motorcycle Club (ARMC) is a group of passionate Royal Enfield riders, who are based in Guwahati, Assam. The ARMC extended relief at the Kaziranga National Park as it was one of the major flood affected areas. They worked closely with officials of Kaziranga to send out around 150+ packages of relief material for the people who are in need.
Two of Royal Enfield’s prominent dealership stores in Assam also contributed significantly towards relief efforts. Dynamic Motors Dhubri and Riders Dibrugarh provided aid and relief measures to families around their locality who were affected by flood. From distributing essentials and basic necessities to the affected families, they also worked with Assam Police to distribute masks and sanitizers to people located in rural parts of the state.
Royal Enfield as a brand has always worked towards the betterment of the communities at large while keeping the welfare and well-being of the community at the core of all its initiatives. While these initiatives were undertaken immediately, there is a strong need to employ recovery and rehabilitation efforts long term and Royal Enfield is committed to extending the necessary support to the affected communities and wildlife alike.
