Union Home Minister Amit Shah led a massive roadshow in Nandigram on Tuesday where he reiterated that the BJP will win more than 200 seats in the West Bengal Assembly.
In an exclusive interview with India Today TV ahead of the second phase of the Bengal election, Amit Shah said BJP candidate Suvendu Adhikari will certainly defeat TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee in the high-profile Nandigram constituency.
As he stood atop a lorry, decked up with flowers and BJP flags with Suvendu Adhikari by his side, Amit Shah said the BJP is confident of Adhikari’s win. “Suvendu Adhikari is definitely going to win Nandigram Assembly seat by a huge margin. “I gave a conservative figure after Phase 1 and will give another after Phase 2, but the BJP is going to cross the 200-figure for sure,” Amit Shah told India Today TV.
Locals queued up on both sides of the road and watched the procession, which inched its way through the streets amid loud chants of ‘Jai Shri Ram’, ‘Narendra Modi Zindabad’ and ‘Amit Shah Zindabad’.
Many of them were seen shooting videos and clicking selfies at the roadshow.
All eyes are on battleground Nandigram, where West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has locked horns with her protege-turned-rival Suvendu Adhikari.
