Road development in the north-eastern region increases by 95%

The north-eastern region in India has gained an increased emphasis from the government, with a renewed focus on infrastructural development in the region in tandem with the Act East policy. The repercussions of the pandemic-induced lockdown and the subsequent intensification of construction activities across the country let the Indian construction sector is on course to grow by 11.6% in CY2021. The growth has been fuelled by the resumption of construction activities across the country. In November 2020, the government increased its allocation for road development in the north-eastern region by 95%, pressing on the need to recommence pending infrastructural projects.
