Assamese filmmaker Rima Das has received a Special Mention for her new film Not a Hero at the Berlin International Film Festival, one of the world’s most respected film events.The award was given in the Generation Kplus Children’s Jury category for Best Film. The film had its world premiere at the festival on February 14. The festival concluded on February 22.
The news was shared by the producers at Flying River Films on social media. In their message, they thanked the Generation jury, the festival team and the audience for supporting the film.“It’s truly special to win the Special Mention at Berlinale Generation Kplus,” the team posted. “A film about children, their dreams, and the strength to make their own choices. Huge thanks to the Generation jury, the Generation team, and the lovely audience who embraced Not a Hero with so much care.”
Rima Das is known for her earlier film Village Rockstars, which was India’s official entry to the Academy Awards in 2019. With Not a Hero, she returned to Berlin’s Generation section.
