On Wednesday, forest officials said that one-horned rhino was spotted in the area of Pava Reserve Forest in Lakhimpur district of Assam.
Officials also informed that after 90 per cent encroachment of the forest the rhino was spotted, bringing cheers to the wildlife protectors.
According to Lakhimpur Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Ashok Kumar Dev Choudhury said, the rhino most likely came out from Kaziranga National Park and reached Pava.
Some experts, however, are of the opinion that this lone rhino may have lost its way to the village land, which is now free of encroachment, inside Pava.
“If the public cooperates with us, we will send it back to Kaziranga again,” DFO added.
The news was also shared by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma, expressing his happiness.Rhini
