Renault Group India has announced two significant leadership appointments, underscoring India’s rising stature as a global hub for automotive design and engineering. The move highlights the company’s ambition to accelerate growth in one of the world’s most dynamic markets and strengthen cooperation with local teams. Dr. Vikraman V has been named Chief of Renault Engineering at Renault Nissan Technology & Business Centre India (RNTBCI), Chennai. With nearly two decades at Mahindra & Mahindra, where he led the Vehicle Mechanical Division, Dr. Vikraman brings expertise across EV and ICE platforms. He holds a PhD in automotive engineering from IIT Madras.
Sandeep Bhambra, who has led Advanced Design for Renault in France since 2021, joins as Head of Renault Design Centre India (RDCI), while continuing as Chief Designer Advanced Renault. Bhambra has spearheaded projects like the Renault 5 Turbo 3E, Scenic Vision, and Estafette Concept. Renault Group CEO Stéphane Deblaise said the appointments mark a “transformative moment” for the brand in India, adding that Bhambra’s creativity and Vikraman’s engineering depth will shape Renault’s future.
In Guwahati, Renault’s strengthened India focus is expected to boost consumer confidence. Dealers anticipate that India-led design and engineering will make upcoming models more attuned to local preferences, offering better value and innovation to customers in Assam and the Northeast. The Renault Design Centre Chennai has also been renamed Renault Design Centre India, reinforcing its global role in shaping next-generation mobility solutions.
