To mark National Youth Day, the Indian Army’s Red Shield Division, under the Spear Corps, organised a 3-km ‘Shauryaveer Run’ at Rupai in Assam, involving enthusiastic participation from local youths. The initiative aimed to encourage physical fitness, mental strength and a sense of patriotism among young people, inspired by the ideals of Swami Vivekananda.
Around 100 youths took part in the run alongside Army personnel, highlighting strong civil–military cooperation and a shared commitment to healthy living. Senior officers of the Red Shield Division flagged off the event, which was marked by high energy, discipline and competitive spirit among the participants.
After the run concluded, medals and certificates were presented to the top performers. The winner received a gold medal and is being considered for Agniveer training support as a step towards personal and professional growth. Refreshments were also served to all participants in appreciation of their involvement.
The Shauryaveer Run reflected the Red Shield Division’s ongoing dedication to youth empowerment, community engagement and nation-building efforts in the region. Local youths expressed appreciation for the opportunity to interact with Army personnel and said the event inspired them to serve the nation with commitment and pride.
The programme resonated with Swami Vivekananda’s message, “Arise, awake, and stop not till the goal is reached,” and organisers said similar initiatives would continue to motivate and empower the youth.
