Deputy chief minister, Y Patton called for rededication to Christian values and urged church community to give thanks to God for all the blessings bestowed upon the people of Old Changsu village during the past hundred years.
A press release by deputy CM media cell stated that, Patton said this during centennial jubilee celebration of Old Changsu Baptist Church on January 17. Patton in his greetings reiterated that jubilee was a time to repent, forgive and forget past rancour and to exalt Almighty God for all His grace. Attributing all blessings to pioneers of the Church who had embraced Christianity in 1919, Patton conveyed his gratitude to the surviving family members of the pioneers.
Patton further called upon youngsters to rededicate in their academic career through hard work and to excel in competitive exams. In line with this, he assured to sponsor genuine and committed competitive aspirants from Old Changsu village for undergoing coaching classes.
He also assured to sponsor two candidates from the village for pursuing theological studies till graduation in memory of the centennial jubilee, should there be any willing candidates. He also urged upon the youngsters to abstain from all sorts of intoxicants because it not only ruined health but ruined all future careers as well. He further encouraged competitive exam aspirants by declaring incentives for those who crack NPSC and UPSC.
Y Patton, who is also the in-charge of PWD (R&B) assured black-top approach road to Witter Bible College campus at Vankhosung from welcome gate within two years in memory of the Old Changsu Baptist Church centennial jubilee celebration.
