Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 2) launches in India with 2X battery life, better video capture

Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 2) smart glasses were launched in India today, offering significant upgrades in video capture, battery performance, and on-device Meta AI capabilities. The second-generation wearable will be available across Ray-Ban India stores and leading eyewear retailers nationwide, with prices starting at ₹39,900. The new edition features 3K Ultra HD video capture, ultrawide HDR, and improved AI responses designed for hands-free functionality. With up to eight hours of battery life, fast charging up to 50 per cent in 20 minutes, and a case delivering an additional 48 hours of power, the Gen 2 model aims to deliver uninterrupted use throughout the day. Meta confirmed that advanced capture modes including hyperlapse and slow motion will arrive through later software updates.

Available in Wayfarer, Skyler and Headliner styles, the lineup includes fresh seasonal colours: Shiny Cosmic Blue, Shiny Mystic Violet and Shiny Asteroid Grey. The glasses now support full Hindi interaction and improved voice clarity through Conversation Focus, enabling natural queries, media control, and messaging. A new “Celebrity AI Voice” experience also debuts, allowing Indian users to interact with Deepika Padukone’s AI voice as part of Meta AI’s global voice library.

In Kolkata, major eyewear retailers reported an uptick in customer enquiries even ahead of launch, with premium buyers viewing Gen 2 as both a lifestyle accessory and a productivity tool. Retailers expect demand to rise further during the Christmas–New Year shopping cycle. Meta also announced testing of UPI Lite payments via WhatsApp-linked bank accounts, enabling users to simply look at a QR code and say, “Hey Meta, scan and pay.” The feature is expected to roll out soon.
