Rapido, India’s leading ride-hailing platform, has officially launched its bike taxi services in Dibrugarh, aiming to strengthen first and last-mile connectivity across the city. The app-based service is now live, offering residents a faster, affordable, and more convenient commuting option.
With this expansion, Rapido seeks to create 2,000 new job opportunities in Dibrugarh by encouraging local youth to sign up as “Captains.” The move is expected to not only ease urban commutes but also empower residents through flexible earning avenues. Rapido already facilitates over 3.5 million rides daily across India and has generated more than 9 million jobs nationwide. Co-founder Pavan Guntupalli said, “We’re thrilled to introduce Rapido’s services in Dibrugarh, making dependable transportation more accessible and creating livelihood opportunities for local youth.”
Hirak Jyoti Deka, DTO, Dibrugarh, welcomed the move, highlighting its potential to address growing urban mobility challenges and generate employment. Dibrugarh; a key commercial hub in Upper Assam is likely to benefit significantly. The launch is expected to ease intra-city travel for traders, students, and office-goers, while also providing income opportunities to those affected by the region’s fluctuating job market. Rapido is working closely with local authorities to ensure a smooth and regulated rollout.
