Ride-sharing platform Rapido has marked a significant milestone by launching its Bike Taxi and Auto services in 15 new cities across West Bengal, including Malda, Kharagpur, and Murshidabad. With this expansion, Rapido now operates in every district of the state, reinforcing its commitment to provide affordable, accessible, and tech-driven first and last-mile connectivity.
This strategic rollout is part of Rapido’s broader mission to reach 500 cities nationwide. The company currently facilitates over 4 million rides daily and is one of India’s largest gig economy enablers, having created over 9 million jobs. The latest move is expected to generate 1 lakh additional job opportunities, empowering local youth through flexible earnings as Rapido “captains.”
The launch has been welcomed by daily commuters and small business owners alike. With limited local transport options, residents see Rapido as a convenient alternative for daily travel, especially for navigating congested areas and connecting to markets and railway stations. “This expansion is not just about mobility—it’s about empowering people,” said Pavan Guntupalli, Co-founder of Rapido. The company will collaborate with local stakeholders to ensure a seamless and safe user experience across the state.
