Delhi Police has registered a case of rape, criminal conspiracy and destruction of evidence against Prince Raj, cousin of LJP chief Chirag Paswan and MP from Bihar’s Samastipur.
The FIR was lodged at Connaught Place Police Station three months after a complaint by a woman, reportedly a party worker, who alleged that she had been raped and threatened by Raj.
The FIR also mentions Paswan, accusing him of trying to hide evidence. The police lodged the FIR on September 9 on directions from a Delhi court, after the complainant approached it.
The woman in her complaint accused Prince Raj of sexually exploiting her. Prince Raj is the son of late Ram Chandra Paswan, the brother of late Ram Vilas Paswan.
Earlier, Chirag Paswan had said that Prince Raj was involved in a sexual act with an LJP woman leader who was later blackmailing him. Chirag Paswan had tweeted a letter dated March 29 mentioning the complaint of sexual molestation by a woman party worker against Prince Raj.
“When this matter came to my knowledge, I suggested Prince Raj to register a complaint with the police. I have discussed this with Pasupati Kumar Paras, who is an elder in my family, but he did not take it seriously,” Chirag Paswan had said in a letter.
The LJP has been witnessing high drama for the last few months after Chirag Paswan’s uncle Pashupati Kumar Paras opened a rebellion against his nephew and claimed leadership of the party.
Five LJP MPs in the Lok Sabha, including Prince Raj, revolted against Chirag Paswan, which was formed by his father 21 years ago. Mahmood Ali Kaiser, Veena Devi and Chandan Singh were among the rebel MPs.
