Filmmaker Aditya Dhar’s espionage drama “Dhurandhar” has achieved significant success at the global box office, generating ₹552.70 crore worldwide within just 10 days, according to the producers’ announcement in New Delhi on Monday.
The Ranveer Singh-led movie, released on December 5, achieved significant box office success by earning ₹58.20 crore nett in India on its second Sunday, marking it as the biggest Sunday ever for a Hindi film.
The film has earned ₹430.20 crore in India and ₹122.50 crore from overseas revenues.
The film achieved a nett revenue of ₹218 crore in its opening week. In the second week, it earned ₹34.70 crore on Friday and ₹53.70 crore on Saturday, culminating in a significant financial performance on the second Sunday.
The makers of the film announced that it has achieved an “unprecedented, record-shattering run,” highlighting that “every day has been bigger than the previous from the first Monday onward.”
“Dhurandhar” has achieved significant milestones in Hindi cinema by securing the highest box office earnings for the second Friday, second Saturday, and second Sunday in the industry’s history.
With continuous packed houses, midnight shows, and round-the-clock screenings, the Dhurandhar wave has emerged as a worldwide phenomenon. This monster hit is sustained by exceptional word of mouth and unwavering audience support, according to the makers.
“Dhurandhar” is a high-octane spy thriller directed and written by Dhar. The film stars Singh in the lead role and centers on covert intelligence operations intertwined with significant geopolitical and terror events such as the Kandahar plane hijacking, the 2001 Parliament Attack, and the 26/11 Mumbai attacks.
The film, which has sparked divisive opinions among critics and the public in India, predominantly takes place in Lyari, a locality in Karachi recognized for its notorious history of gang conflicts and violent territorial disputes.
Produced by Dhar and Lokesh Dhar under B62 Studios in association with Jyoti Deshpande’s Jio Studios, the film features an ensemble cast including Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, Arjun Rampal, Sara Arjun, R Madhavan, and Rakesh Bedi.
