Range Rover debuts local manufacturing in India, aims for luxury market expansion

Range Rover has officially opened its first Range Rover House in India, marking a significant milestone with the local production of its iconic luxury SUVs. Located in the exclusive coastal town of Alibaug, this new establishment showcases the sophisticated Range Rover and Range Rover Sport models, now manufactured in Pune exclusively for the Indian market.

This strategic move aims to cater to the growing demand for luxury SUVs in India, reducing wait times and enhancing the customer experience. The Pune facility will produce these models alongside the already locally manufactured Range Rover Velar, Range Rover Evoque, Jaguar F-PACE, and Discovery Sport. Lennard Hoornik, Chief Commercial Officer at JLR, emphasized the significance of this development: “Local manufacturing of the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport in India is a pivotal step towards consolidating our position as the most desirable modern luxury SUV family in the country.”

The latest models boast advanced technology, including software-over-the-air updates, voice control, and a simplified digital interface, ensuring a seamless and refined driving experience. Deliveries for the locally manufactured Range Rover begin today, with prices starting at ₹236 Lakh for the Diesel HSE LWB and ₹260 Lakh for the Petrol Autobiography LWB.Geraldine Ingham, Managing Director of Range Rover, highlighted the unprecedented global demand for Range Rover vehicles, noting a 160% surge in retail sales in India for FY24. The local production is set to further bolster this trend.
