Ramsahay Prasad Yadav sworn in as Nepal’s Vice President

After handily defeating a CPN-UML candidate, senior Madhesi leader Ramsahaya Prasad Yadav was sworn in as Nepal’s third vice president on Monday. Yadav, 52, received the oath of office and secrecy from President of Nepal Ram Chandra Poudel during a special ceremony at Sheetal Niwas, the President’s Office. Defeating Ashta Laxmi Shakya of the Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist-Leninist) [CPN-UML] headed by former prime minister K P Sharma Oli, Yadav, a candidate for the Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP), won the election.
