Pune’s acclaimed cake artist, Prachi Dhabal Deb, was honored at Oxford University for her outstanding contributions to Royal Icing Art. Prachi, a distinguished figure in the field, was the first cake artist to be felicitated at the prestigious Oxford University, during the UK’s India Week festivities. The event was graced by Navin Shah CBE at the House of Commons, UK Parliament, recognizing her exceptional work.
Prachi’s journey in royal icing art spans over a decade, driven by her passion and expertise honed in London. “It is an honor to be acknowledged for my work in a field that I am so passionate about,” Prachi remarked, reflecting on her challenging yet rewarding journey. At Oxford University, she was celebrated by Kevin McCole, Managing Director of the UK India Business Council, underscoring her significant impact on the art form.
Prachi, originally from Rewa, Madhya Pradesh, and raised in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, has achieved three world records with the World Book of Records, London. Her notable feats include a 100 kg cake structure inspired by the Milan Cathedral, the highest number of vegan royal icing structures, and a 200 kg edible Indian palace made with vegan royal icing. Prachi’s dedication to vegan alternatives in confectionery showcases her commitment to innovation and sustainability.In the Kolkata market, Prachi’s achievements have sparked immense pride and admiration, reflecting a growing interest in gourmet artistry that blends tradition with contemporary flair.
