Pradyot Manikya Deb Barma, the royal scion and founder of Tripura’s Tipra Motha, visited the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) on September 16 to extend his support to the Bodoland People’s Front (BPF), led by Hagrama Mohilary, ahead of the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) elections. During his visit, Deb Barma accompanied Mohilary on the campaign trail across several constituencies, engaging with local residents, party workers, and community leaders.
Their joint presence emphasized the growing focus on regional solidarity and collaborative political efforts in BTR. As part of his cultural outreach, Deb Barma visited the Bathou Traditional and Cultural Centre in Kokrajhar town. Accompanied by former MP Sansuma Kungur Bwiswmuthiary, he offered prayers at the Bathou Thansali and participated in a traditional ceremony seeking blessings from Bwrai Bathou, reflecting his respect for local customs and traditions.
Speaking to the media, Deb Barma described BPF as the “single largest and strongest regional party” in Bodoland and urged all regional parties—including BPF, UPPL, and Anchalik Gana Morcha (APB)—to rise above political differences. “I hope all regional forces in BTR can come together in the future for the greater good of the people,” he said, highlighting the importance of unity for the region’s long-term development and stability.
