Borluit Productions, recognized for its award-winning short films, has announced the official poster for its debut Assamese feature film, “Dipholu,” set to release in theaters on August 21, 2026. The film reflects the company’s commitment to authentic storytelling, showcased through its rural Assamese backdrop and a diverse ensemble cast, which includes prominent actors like Amrita Gogoi, Subrat Deori, and veteran actress Mridula Barua in a guest role. Directed by Nekib, who also serves as the writer and editor, “Dipholu” features a talented team with screenplay by Debojit Bora. The cinematography is handled by Uttam Kalita, while music is composed by Jekiv, who also produces the film. Notable playback singers, including Zubeen Garg, contribute to the film’s soundtrack, with two duet songs featuring Garg being especially significant, as they represent some of his last recorded work prior to his passing on September 19, 2025. The duet with Gayatri Hazarika, who passed away on May 16, 2025, adds to the emotional weight of the film, reflecting the rich legacy of Assamese music.
The film’s choreography is led by Deepak Dey and Uday Shankar, and action sequences are directed by Pankaj Soram. Costume design is by Juri Kalita, with Pijumoni Sharma responsible for makeup. Additional staff includes a robust team of assistant directors and production management led by Utpal Kalita and Hirok Jyoti Saloi, with Life’s Purple managing the film’s public relations and media strategies. Producer Jekiv describes “Dipholu” as a heartfelt exploration of Assamese identity and culture, encapsulating the region’s hopes and humor. Following the success of their prior short films, “Dipholu” signifies Borluit Productions’ ambitious foray into feature-length cinema, aiming to captivate audiences with its genuine artistry and local flair. The film will be available in cinemas across Assam and select Indian cities upon its release.
