Post Malone to Perform in Guwahati Today as Delay in Zubeen Garg Death Report Sparks Controversy

Global rap star Post Malone is scheduled to perform in Khanapara, Guwahati, marking his second concert in India, a follow-up to his debut in Mumbai. The event is shadowed by a political controversy regarding the postponed inquiry report on the death of acclaimed Assamese singer Zubeen Garg, originally due today but now set for December 12. Critics claim that the concert serves as a distraction from this delay.

In response, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma refuted these claims, asserting that Post Malone was invited before Garg’s death and that there was no prior opposition to the concert. He argued that hosting international music events can enhance Assam’s cultural profile and tourism. Sarma pointed out that the Assam government provided only minimal logistical support for the event and no public funds were used. He also stated that he and his ministers would not be attending the concert. As the concert approaches, attention remains divided between the expected turnout and the impending inquiry report submission.
