A nearly four-kilometre rural road connecting Bamuni through Dalgaon to the four-lane National Highway 127 at Borbhagiya in Assam’s Kaliabor has deteriorated severely, causing difficulties for residents and daily commuters.
The road, constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) and maintained by the Public Works Department (PWD), has developed several small and large potholes along different stretches. The damaged surface has made travel increasingly difficult and affected the regular movement of vehicles.
Residents who depend on the road for their daily commute have been facing problems as the condition of the route has worsened over time. Several stretches have become difficult to navigate, affecting access to the National Highway and other important routes in the area.
According to local residents, the road has remained in a poor condition for a considerable period, but repair work has reportedly not been carried out. With the potholes continuing to grow and the road surface deteriorating further, commuters are concerned about the safety and reliability of the route.
The road is an important link for people in the surrounding villages, providing connectivity from Bamuni and Dalgaon to the four-lane National Highway 127 at Borbhagiya. Its deteriorating condition has therefore become a daily concern for those who use it for work, business and other essential travel.
