Harichand Thakur devoted his life for the betterment of the downtrodden, oppressed and deprived persons in undivided Bengal before the independence. He started the social and religious movement originated from Orakandi in 1860 and led to the formation of the Matua Dharma. Orakandi is now in Bangladesh.
On the occasion of the 211th birth anniversary of Shree Shree Harichand Thakur on 29th March, the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi virtually addressed the ‘Matua Dharma Maha Mela 2022’.
All India Matua Mahasangha organised the ‘Matua Dharma Maha Mela 2022’. It is beginning from today. It was organised at Shreedham Thakurnagar in West Bengal’s Thakurbari. The event will be end on 5th April.
