Konkan Railway completed 100% electrification.
Under the ‘Mission 100 per cent Electrification – moving towards net Zero Carbon Emission’ plan, Indian Railways is on a mission mode to electrify its entire Broad Gauge network. According to the Konkan Railway, Indian railways will provide environment friendly, green and clean mode of transport to its people.
The train operations with electric traction will be implemented in a phased manner on the newly electrified Konkan Railway route.
The Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi praised Konkan Railway for this achievement and said that it is a new benchmark of sustainable development.

In November 2015, the electrification of the entire 741 km route’s foundation stone work was laid. The total cost of this project is Rs. 1,287 crore. The entire Konkan Railway route’s CRS inspection has been successfully conducted in six phases. It has been starting from March 2020. CRS inspection of the last section was carried out on March 24, 2022. The section is between Ratnagiri and Thivim. The authorisation of this last section was obtained on March 28.
