Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh each for the next of kin of those killed due to the lightning strikes in all the three states and Rs 50,000 for the injured.
On Monday, the death toll of heavy lightning in Uttar Pradesh hit 41, while seven persons died in Madhya Pradesh. In addition, 20 people were killed when lightning struck Rajasthan on Sunday. PM Modi expressed his condolences for the fatalities and provided an ex-gratia payment of Rs 2 lakh to each of the deceased’s relatives.
On Sunday, lightning struck Rajasthan, killing 20 people. Seven of the victims were children from the districts of Kota and Dholpur. Over ten additional people have been injured, according to reports.
