Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday extended festive greetings to people across the country on the occasion of Magh Bihu and Makar Sankranti, noting the rich cultural importance of the festivals and their close links to India’s agricultural heritage. Referring to Magh Bihu, the post-harvest festival observed in Assam, the Prime Minister said the celebration reflects prosperity and social unity and expressed his hope for peace, good health, and happiness for all. In his message on Makar Sankranti, which is celebrated in different forms across various regions of India, Modi said he prayed to Lord Surya for the well-being and prosperity of the people. The greetings were shared through a post on social media platform X.

Makar Sankranti marks the Sun’s transition into the zodiac sign of Capricorn (Makar) and is widely observed as a harvest festival signalling the mid-winter period across the country. PM Modi Greets Citizens on Magh Bihu and Makar Sankranti
