PepsiCo India is accelerating its portfolio transformation by expanding lower-sugar beverages, wholegrain and millet-based snacks, and new food formats to cater to changing consumer preferences and growing interest in wellness.
More than 70% of the company’s beverage portfolio currently comprises zero-sugar or mid-calorie options, with PepsiCo aiming to increase the share to 90–100% over time. Its offerings include Pepsi Black, 7UP Zero Sugar, Gatorade Zero and Nimbooz. In its foods business, the company has repositioned Quaker to highlight its protein, fibre and wholegrain credentials, alongside Red Rock Deli baked variants with 40% less fat and KurkureJowar Puffs.
PepsiCo India said its convenient foods portfolio, including Lay’s, Kurkure, Doritos, Cheetos, Uncle Chipps, Quaker and Red Rock Deli, carries the “No Artificial Flavours or Colours” positioning. The company also provides nutritional information on packaging to help consumers make informed choices.
Yashika Singh, chief corporate affairs officer and sustainability head at PepsiCo India and South Asia, said the company was expanding consumer choice while keeping taste and enjoyment central to its innovation strategy.
In Kolkata, the shift towards varied nutritional options presents an opportunity for the food and beverage market, where established brands can cater to consumers seeking alternatives to conventional snacks and sugary drinks. However, the extent of demand will depend on consumer awareness, affordability and product availability across retail channels.
