The Sikkim government has announced the restoration of original pay levels for employees who transitioned from temporary to regularized roles under the state’s mass regularization drive. This update primarily affects workers in newly established roles such as Village Grievance Redressal Assistants, Village Police Guards, Marketing Assistants, and Child Care Assistants.
Initially proposed in February 2020, the decision to restore pay levels ensures that employees, upon completing five years of regular service, receive appropriate compensation reflective of their contributions. These roles, introduced with the regularization process, initially lacked defined pay scales, leading to discrepancies in compensation.
The Department of Personnel issued a notification on November 12, 2024, outlining revised pay adjustments for various levels:
- Employees regularized at Level 1 will now receive Level 4 pay.
- Those at Level 2 will be upgraded to Level 6.
- Employees initially placed at Level 3 will advance to Level 7.
