Pawan Chamling attacks Sikkim CM Golay over false promises and unfulfilled schemes

Former Sikkim Chief Minister and Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) President Pawan Chamling launched a scathing attack on the ruling Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) on the occasion of SDF’s 33rd foundation day, accusing Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang (Golay) of deceiving the people with unfulfilled promises.

Mocking the SKM government, Chamling remarked, “Golay deserves a Nobel Prize for lying and a Guinness World Record for false promises.” He criticized the ruling party for failing to deliver key promises such as the ₹20,000 unemployment allowance (Bekari Bhatta) and the ₹50,000 Dashain festival allowance. Chamling also accused SKM of misleading the public by taking credit for central government schemes like the free rice distribution program and AAMA Yojana, portraying them as state-sponsored initiatives. “There is no leader like Golay when it comes to deception. His party promised many things but has fulfilled nothing,” he asserted.

Dismissing speculation about his political retirement, Chamling reaffirmed his commitment to Sikkim’s people. “I have not resigned. I will continue to fight for the poor and the people of Sikkim,” he declared. Comparing Sikkim’s governance under SKM to Emperor Nero’s reign, he accused the ruling party of neglecting public welfare. He also criticized SKM’s reversal on party-based Panchayat elections, stating, “Golay himself proves SKM is wrong. They say one thing today and the opposite tomorrow.”
