Ozone Pharmaceuticals Ltd. has launched ‘Ozone Shield’, a dedicated security, legal and emotional wellbeing support initiative for doctors facing violence, harassment and medico-legal challenges.
The initiative, described by the company as the first of its kind by an Indian pharmaceutical company, was formally launched by DrKiran Bedi (IPS), former Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry, at a special event in New Delhi.
The company cited a nationwide survey by experts from AIIMS, Safdarjung Hospital and VMMC covering more than 1,500 healthcare workers. The survey found that 78.4 per cent had faced threats while on duty, while 58.2 per cent did not feel safe at their workplace. Ozone Pharmaceuticals also highlighted that doctors are eventually found not guilty in a majority of legal cases.
Conceptualised by Founder and Managing Director Subash Sehgal after three decades of working with doctors, Ozone Shield will provide personal security assistance during threats or manhandling, legal support in medico-legal matters and counselling for emotional wellbeing.
The company’s nationwide field teams will initially introduce the programme to gynaecologists before expanding it to other specialities. Doctors can register through the Shield WhatsAppChatbot by submitting their name, speciality, city and Ozone network details.
CEO Anil Kothiyal said supporting doctors was the company’s responsibility towards the medical fraternity. Established in 1991, Ozone Pharmaceuticals operates across 14 therapeutic areas, with manufacturing units in Baddi and Guwahati, and reaches more than one lakh doctors across India and Nepal.
