Organisers Ramp Up Preparations for Sikkim Kalakar Sammelan, Focus on Workshops and Artist Felicitation Events

A coordination meeting of the Sikkim Kalakar Bharosa Sammelan Committee was held in Gangtok to review preparations for the upcoming Sikkim Kalakar Bharosa Sammelan, with organisers announcing that the annual event has been postponed and will now be held on May 14 and 15.

The meeting was chaired by former Namchi-Singithang MLA Krishna Kumari Rai and attended by members associated with the organisation and preparation of the cultural programme.

During the meeting, Chairman of the Sikkim Art, Culture and Heritage Board Sanjay Dilpali Rai informed members that the event schedule had been revised due to the official engagements of Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang.

According to him, the Chief Minister is expected to attend the programme as the chief guest on May 15. He added that activities on May 14 will mainly focus on workshops and interactive sessions to be conducted by invited experts from different artistic fields.

Officials said the Sammelan will include programmes connected to music, theatre, fashion and other cultural activities. The event will also feature the felicitation of individuals who have made notable contributions in the fields of art, culture and entertainment in Sikkim.

Sanjay Dilpali Rai also briefed members about the ongoing arrangements and preparations being made for the programme. He said organisers are working on different planning measures to ensure smooth conduct of the two-day event.

Addressing the meeting, Krishna Kumari Rai said the Sammelan has become an important platform for recognising and encouraging talented people from different creative fields across the state. She said the programme is not merely an event but an initiative aimed at honouring the contribution of artists, performers and cultural personalities of Sikkim.

She further stated that the Sikkim Art, Culture and Heritage Board itself was formed from the vision and efforts connected to earlier editions of the Sammelan. Calling upon all concerned members and organisers to work together, she urged everyone to ensure the success of the upcoming programme.

The Sikkim Kalakar Bharosa Sammelan has over the years emerged as a major cultural gathering in the state, bringing together artists, musicians, theatre personalities, designers and other cultural contributors on a common platform.
