Odisha TV, an Odisha-based private news channel, launched an AI-generated news anchor named ‘Lisa’ on Sunday. A prosthetic woman wearing a saree woven from Odisha will present news in both Odia and English for OTV Network’s television and digital platforms, a company release said.
According to a company statement, OTV is giving Odia television journalism its first artificial intelligence (AI) news anchor Lisa, it said.
Although Lisa can speak many languages, for now, she will present news only in Oriya and English for the network’s television and digital platforms.
According to the release, “Efforts are on to make Lisa more proficient in Odia in coming days. You can find and follow Lisa on all major social media platforms like Instagram, Facebook, among others.”
The company’s Digital Business Head, Litisha Mangat Panda said that training Lisa in Odia is a huge task, which we can achieve.
“However, we are still working on it. We are hoping that he will be trained to a level where she can easily interact with others, she said.
