The National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), in collaboration with ed-tech platform CoLLearn and Shikhar Dhawan’s DA One Sports, has launched a specialized training program to upskill cricket coaches across India. The initiative aims to enhance coaching standards and equip aspiring mentors with modern training methodologies.The Cricket Coach Education Programme will be a joint effort where NSDC will facilitate awareness workshops and provide skill loans for eligible candidates. CoLLearn will organize classes and offer placement support, while DA One Sports will oversee student assessments and on-field training.
NSDC CEO Ved Mani Tiwari emphasized the program’s role in raising coaching standards in Indian cricket. “This initiative is about fostering excellence and preparing coaches to mentor players at all levels. By integrating modern coaching techniques, we are equipping them with the necessary tools to thrive in a competitive environment,” he said. The curriculum will cover technical coaching, player performance analytics, and injury prevention strategies. CoLLearn’s Srishty Jain highlighted that the program aims to create “leaders who inspire the next generation of cricketers.” Shikhar Dhawan called the initiative a “game-changer” that will help build future champions by strengthening the grassroots coaching ecosystem.
With the rising demand for skilled coaches in northeastern states like Assam, this initiative is expected to create new opportunities in Guwahati. Cricket academies in the region are expanding, and structured coaching programs can help nurture local talent. Experts believe that better-trained coaches will boost player development, strengthening the state’s representation in national cricket.The program also includes career development support, helping participants with resume building and interview preparation. With a final assessment phase ensuring quality standards, this initiative is set to empower aspiring coaches across India’s evolving sports industry.
