NSDC and PayPal partner to skill youth for BFSI sector

The National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) has joined hands with PayPal to empower youth, particularly women from low-income backgrounds, with industry-relevant skills in the Banking, Financial Services, and Insurance (BFSI) sector. The collaboration, formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) under PayPal’s CSR initiative, aims to equip thousands of young individuals with essential skills for career growth.

The MoU was exchanged between Dr. Rishikesh Patankar, Vice President, NSDC, and Srini Venkatesan, Global Chief Technology Officer, PayPal, in the presence of senior officials from both organizations. The initiative will provide training aligned with the National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF), covering fintech domains such as Bancassurance Relationship Associate, Customer Service Associate, and GST Assistant, with courses spanning 420 to 480 hours. Dr. Patankar emphasized the initiative’s role in bridging the skill gap in India’s financial sector. “By providing industry-specific skills, we are creating pathways for meaningful careers and entrepreneurial ventures,” he said. PayPal’s Vice President, V. Chandramouliswaran, highlighted the alignment with the Skill India vision, stating that the program will unlock economic opportunities for youth and women.

The training will be conducted across multiple districts, including Chennai, Patna, Hyderabad, Surat, Indore, Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Ranchi. As of March 11, 2025, candidates are already undergoing training. NSDC will also facilitate job placements through job fairs and interviews, ensuring that at least 70% of participants secure employment. In Guwahati, the initiative is expected to strengthen the BFSI talent pool, benefiting businesses and startups in Assam. With the city emerging as a financial hub in the Northeast, skilled professionals trained under this program will enhance the workforce and support the growing demand for financial services in the region. This partnership is set to make a significant impact by equipping aspiring professionals with skills that drive career growth and economic development.
