The National Skill Development Corporation and ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India have completed their inaugural training program for 800 young people, with 70% of trainees securing employment. The program focuses on digital and technology skills, providing participants with tools and knowledge for various industries. Over 60% of the 561 trainees secured jobs are women.
NSDC and AM/NS India intend to build on the success of the programme by training another 800 people in the coming years. This will involve establishing three new skills development centers in Kendrapara, Sundargarh, and Keonjhar districts in Odisha, as well as a center in Dantewada in Chhattisgarh. AM/NS India and NSDC established four skill development centers in Gujrat, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, and Maharashtra in 2022.
These centers offered students real-life work environments, professional application opportunities, robust assessment, training completion certificates, and placement opportunities. Ved Mani Tiwari– CEO, NSDC and MD, NSDC International, said,“ I am enthusiastic about the potential for our partnership with AM/NS India to catalyse further private sector involvement, enhance sector capabilities, encourage innovation, and simplify their transition into the workforce.”
