After putting ban on export of rice India is still looking to help it’s neighboring and friendly countries by exporting rice to meet their food demand. “Export of 75,000 MT of Non-Basmati White Rice (under HS code 1006 30 90) to UAE is permitted through NCEL,” the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) had said. Also earlier the government permitted the export of broken rice to Senegal (5 lakh tonnes), Gambia (5 lakh tonnes), Indonesia (2 lakh tonnes), Mali (1 lakh tonnes), and Bhutan (48,804 tonnes). The government has also allowed exports of non-basmati rice to Bhutan (79,000 tonnes), Mauritius (14,000 tonnes) and Singapore (50,000 tonnes) through the NCEL. If you look this exports are in huge amount as India is always willing to help other country and make sure with its own they also fulfill others need.
Last year on September 9 , the government banned the export of broken rice to check rising retail prices and boost domestic supply. This year on July 20, it banned exports of non-basmati white rice to boost domestic supply and keep retail prices under check during the upcoming festive season. Although India is one of the major rice exporting country as it produces rice in huge amount but in today’s scenario there can be food shortage globally and after that India has huge population who need food. Looking all this things India had put some ban in export of rice but also going to help the needy. This food shortage is mainly going because of the changing global politics as there are many countries who are suffering from it badly. In this type of situation India is trying it’s best to help everyone. As after all we need the basic thing that is food to survive.
