The Navi Mumbai Bengali Association (NMBA), located in Vashi, Maharashtra, is a prominent socio-cultural organization for Bengalis. They are hosting a five-day extravaganza from October 20th to 24th, 2023, celebrating Sharodotsav (Durga Puja and Dassehra). This event, held at the CIDCO Exhibition Centre in Vashi, is expected to draw over 500,000 devotees and marks the 44th year of NMBA’s existence.NMBA’s Sharodotsav promises to captivate attendees with spirituality and festival fervor, featuring Bengali artisans, craftsmen from all over India, and celebrity artists from Kolkata and Bollywood.
In a gesture of goodwill, NMBA will provide free Bhog to visitors for three days, reflecting the rich cultural heritage, religious harmony, and love for the nation.NMBA’s Managing Council has chosen the theme “BHALOBASA – THE NEW DAWN OF LIFE!” for this year’s carnival. This theme aligns with their vision for the well-being of senior citizens, emphasizing “BHALOBASA-ASSISTED LIVING FOR SENIOR CITIZENS-AN OLD AGE HOME.” They are proud to announce their first steps towards this initiative, considering it a significant milestone.
Established in 1981, NMBA actively promotes social and cultural initiatives and public welfare projects, fostering a sense of fraternity, trust, and progress. NMBA is a charitable organization registered under the Maharashtra Public Trust Act, and the proceeds from Sharodotsav support their charitable activities. They also run a major project, “The Home for Cancer Patients,” offering accommodation, food, medical aid, and support to cancer patients undergoing treatment in Mumbai.
