Niva Bupa Health Insurance Company announces the launch of Pink (Period) Leave policy

In line with its commitment to fostering an inclusive and empathetic workplace, Niva Bupa Health Insurance Company has announced the launch of Pink (Period) Leave policy—becoming one of the first health insurance companies in India to introduce such an initiative for all its employees across India. This progressive initiative reinforces the company’s dedication to prioritizing women’s health and creating a supportive environment for all employees.

As per the policy, all women employees at Niva Bupa will be eligible for one day of Pink Leave per month, designed to support them in managing period-related discomfort such as cramps, migraines, nausea, and fatigue. One day of Pink Leave will be credited at the beginning of each month, and any unavailed leave will lapse at the end of the month. Employees can easily avail this leave by selecting the “Pink Leave” category through the standard leave application system. Speaking on the introduction of the policy, Tarun Katyal, Director, Chief Sustainability & HR Officer, Niva Bupa, said, “At Niva Bupa, we believe that true employee well-being goes beyond policies—it stems from empathy, understanding, and acknowledging real-life challenges.

The introduction of Pink Leave reflects our commitment to supporting women’s health in a meaningful way.” As an organization that has been recognized as a Great Place to Work for four consecutive years, Niva Bupa continues to lead the industry with thoughtful, employee-centric policies that enhance workplace experience and support diverse needs. The introduction of Pink Leave marks another significant step towards creating a more inclusive and supportive environment that recognizes the unique health needs of its women employees.
