Nissan Motor India Pvt. Ltd. (NMIPL) has secured a place in the India Book of Records after a convoy of 60 all-new Nissan TEKTON premium SUVs completed what the company said was the largest single-model four-wheeler convoy to reach Leh. The achievement coincides with the automaker’s celebration of 75 years of its global SUV heritage.
The five-day expedition covered more than 700 kilometres, beginning in Chandigarh and passing through Manali and Zangla via Shinku La before culminating in Leh. During the journey, the convoy climbed from 1,053 feet in Chandigarh to Shinku La Pass at 16,703 feet before descending to Leh at 11,480 feet, traversing highways, mountain passes and high-altitude terrain under varying weather conditions. The convoy was driven by media personnel and industry experts to demonstrate the vehicle’s capability, durability and engineering performance in demanding real-world conditions.
Nissan Motor India Managing Director SaurabhVatsa said the record reflects the company’s 75-year SUV legacy and reinforces confidence in the all-new TEKTON’s engineering and performance across India’s diverse driving environments.
Manufactured at Nissan’s Chennai plant under the “One Car, One World” philosophy, the TEKTON is designed for both domestic and export markets, including the Middle East and Africa. The SUV features a 100 per cent turbocharged engine lineup, advanced safety technologies, Google built-in with access to more than 200 apps through Google Play, and Japanese-inspired design. The model is priced from Rs 10.49 lakh for the Turbo T160 range and Rs 14.99 lakh for the Turbo T280 range (ex-showroom), with bookings open nationwide and customer deliveries having commenced on July 20.
In Guwahati, the record-setting feat is expected to strengthen the TEKTON’s appeal among SUV buyers in Assam and the Northeast, where demand for vehicles capable of handling hilly terrain and long-distance travel continues to grow. The recognition could enhance Nissan’s brand visibility in the region and support sales through its dealership network by attracting customers seeking premium SUVs with proven performance in challenging road conditions.
