Nissan Motor India Pvt. Ltd. has appointed Gagan Mangal as its new Head of Communications, effective January 12, 2026. Based in Gurugram, Mangal will lead all communications functions for the company in India. He will report to Katherine Zachary, Vice President – International Communications, and work closely with Saurabh Vatsa, Managing Director, Nissan Motor India.
Announcing the appointment, Vatsa said Mangal joins the company at a crucial phase as Nissan accelerates its brand resurgence and prepares for upcoming product launches in India. He added that Mangal’s strong understanding of the Indian media landscape will help strengthen the company’s communications strategy and brand narrative. Mangal brings over 18 years of experience in corporate communications and marketing. Prior to joining Nissan, he headed Press and Marketing Communications at Volkswagen India and has also worked with Hyundai. His experience includes managing integrated communications for product launches, major events and long-term brand campaigns.
In Guwahati, industry observers say senior leadership appointments at global automobile companies often signal increased focus on regional markets in the Northeast. Dealers and auto industry stakeholders in Guwahati expect clearer brand messaging and stronger media engagement to support customer outreach as manufacturers expand their presence beyond metro cities. In his new role, Mangal will support Nissan’s upcoming launches and strengthen media relations as the company enters its next phase of growth in India.
