Since January 2023, Nissan Motor India Pvt. Ltd.(NMIPL) and The Akshaya Patra Foundation (TAPF), India’s largest non-profit organization, have collaborated to provide food and nutritional support to elementary school children in New Delhi’s Government schools. This collaborative initiative, undertaken by Nissan Motor India and The Akshaya Patra Foundation, reflects a shared commitment to building a healthier future for the country by fostering a robust and educated human workforce.
Nissan Motor India’s School Meal Program, implemented in four Akshaya Patra kitchens in New Delhi, aims to improve food security, nutrition, attendance, dropout rates, and eliminate discrimination among children, in line with the government’s Mid-Day Meal initiative objectives. MrRakesh Srivastava, Managing Director, Nissan Motor India, said, “Through this partnership of providing meals, we are addressing the challenge of students supporting them with a promise of better tomorrow driving a positive change and empowering the young generation.”
TAPF provided 50 lakh nutritious meals to over 49,000 low-income students in 2023, with support from NMIPL. The program has successfully distributed meals to over 300 schools, contributing to a healthy childhood and improved academic performance. Well-nourished children are more likely to thrive academically and have more opportunities in their future endeavors. The meals directly contribute to a child’s health and well-being.
